Dear Sir, My query is that my uncle did not filed his ITR for A.Y. 2010-11, and now he got intimation from Income Tax Department, as his income was only from salary, but his income was Rs. 406000 in A.Y. 2010-11. His tax was showing NIL as per Form 16, so what should he reply to Income Tax department, for not filing ITR in the given A.Y.

You file the return on the basis of Form No. 16 in which the employer must have mentioned various deduction and has shown income as NIL. So do it and take the NIL assessment.
