Regarding CA Articalship

How much minimum period of articalship required to attempt CA Inter Exam?

31 December 2008 Eligibility


No candidate shall be admitted to Professional Competence Examination unless:
(a) he has passed Common Proficiency test held under the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988 and Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto; and
(b) he has worked for not less than fifteen months as an articled assistant or as an audit assistant or partly as an articled assistant and partly as an audit assistant, three months prior to the first day of the month in which examination is held e.g. on 1st February 2008 for the May 2008 Professional Competence Examination; and
(c) he has completed a course on Information Technology Training for such period and in such manner and within such time as may be specified by the Council from time to time;provided that, a candidate who has passed Foundation Examination/Professional education (Examintion-1) and successfully completed the Computer Training Programme or Information Technology training under these Regulations shall be admitted to the examination subject to compliance of clause (b) above.


Provided further that a candidate who was exempted from passing the Professional Education (Examination-1) under proviso to sub-regulation(1) of regulation 25B and is registered as a candidate for the Professional Education (Course –II) shall be admitted, after discontinuance of the Professional Education (Examination-II) i.e. from November, 2009 onwards, to the Professional Competence Examination, subject to his being otherwise eligible to appear in the Professional Education (Examination – II).


31 December 2008 Category 1: PE-II Students who have passed Foundation Examination

or

Category-2: PE-II Students who have passed PE-I

or

Category-3: All such students who have already appeared in PE-II Examination and passed one of the groups or could not pass any of the groups or were eligible to appear in the PE-II examination, as on 13th September, 2006

or

Category-4: All such candidates who have passed the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) conducted by ICAI and senior secondary examination (10+2 examination) conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto AND have worked for not less than 15 months as an articled assistant or as an audit assistant or partly as an articled assistant and partly as an audit assistant three months prior to the 1st day of the month in which the PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE EXAMINATION is to be held.

and

All such students of category 1,2,3 & 4 above should also successfully complete 250 Hours Compulsory Computer training Programme/100 Hours Information Training Programme before appearing in the Professional Competence Examination.



Further, consequent to introduction of the Professional Competence Course, and the last PE-II Examination being held in May, 2009, the students of PE-II scheme can apply for transition to the Professional Competence Course as per “Transition Scheme – Update” hosted in the students section of this website under ‘Board of Studies Announcements’.
