Dear All, I am going to start a Event Management business by proprietorship. Now i am going to open a bank account, but bank manager asking a govt proof of business. But now i have not registered any vat / service tax for the same name. So what govt proof should i give ? or any registration is require for start a proprietorship business ?

Sir, for starting bank account of proprietorship firm following documents are required 1,PAN card of Proprietor 2,Panchayat/Municipality License 3,If rented building then rent agreement copy 4,Vat/service tax license in applicable cases(if turn over cross the limit specified)
In this case I suggest you apply for Panchayat/municipality license .they provide you a receipt and rent agreement with your building owner and take an affidavit from a notary that you have applied for Panchayat/municipal license and produce the same when you receive it
As a bank manager I am allowing to open the bank account to eligible cases I would also take a valid address proof of the applicant Hope the query is resolved

I think for event management business license under shops and establishment act is necessary that may have been mentioned by the bank manager. You can consult with the manager about it
