Kindly advice me about the quantum of penalty that can be imposed for the service tax half yearly return for the F Y 2007-08 filed on 09/09/2011.

The penalty provision of Rs.20000/- was introduced in the finance bill sec 70 (1) in the year 2011. So, for earlier period the maximum penalty was R.2000/= only. This query relates to 2007-08.
