06 February 2013 sir, my client has registered his PAN in income tax department,but has forgotten password. now whats the process to recover it?

06 February 2013 mail all the details to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in

name
father name
dob
pan no.
address at the time of obtaining pan no.

07 February 2013 Dear sir ,

Income tax India e filing password can be reset on alternate email id also. Earlier password was sent to register id only so problem has been faced by many person to reset password due to disabled mail or old mail id were deleted or earlier mail address was of friend or tax consultant which can not be accessible at this time. So you can now provide new email (alternate ) id . Password by incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in will be sent on registered id as well as alternate email id.

Now it is very easy to reset your password at www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in .New feature has been added in site . Forget password . After click of Forget password link on new page you have to select one out of three option(as shown in the picture).

If you are unable to reset the password as shown below then for password reset and link activation, please send login credentials to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in . Mails pertaining to these subjects will not be entertained at any other mail id.
In view of last date approaching and for timely resetting of password, users are advised to use "Forgot Password" utility on homepage for resetting password instead of e-mailing to validate@incometaxindia.gov.in


Step -1 Click on forget password Link , fill your Pan on next screen and click ok button.

Step -2 on Next screen Select your Option from three options.


Please select one of the 3 options :
Enter Secret question answer
Enter E-filing Acknowledgement No.and Bank Account No.as mentioned in E-Return of AY11-12
Enter PAN details


2.1. First option is answer secret question

as it was done in old system also .Under this option you can select new password yourself on the same screen .




2.2 Second Option is to provide E filing acknowledgement number along with last six digits of your bank account number. This option will be shown only if assessee has filed the online return .Under this option you can select new password yourself on the same screen .





3.3 .Third option you have to provide pan holder details as per pan data base.

Name as per pan data base (first name , middle name,surname)
Date of birth/Incorporation
Father name (first name.,,middle name , surname applicable in case of individual only)
Under this option you can not select new password on the same screen .System will reset password and send mail to registered email address AND ALTERNATE EMAIL ID ALSO




A message as shown below will be sent in your mail.(registered as well as alternate email id.



Hope you have no problem in doing this trick.Due date to File income tax return for ay 2012-13 in non audit cases is 31.07.2012 .You may download income tax return form from link given below.

Important Message :Though Reset password will be sent to alternate email id yet your old email id remains primary email id . To update primary email id ,Log in to your account and go to my account and select update Phone/Email TAB in drop Down menu as shown in the menu below.
