My name is Arunachala s. I have applied for PAN in online (Acknowledgement no 881020121851995).... I had sent required documents to tin nsdl.... But they have rejected the proof on the ground of mismatch of name.. I don't have surname.. With my name I only have Initials (Arunachala S) and all my identity proof also having same name. But for PAN application surname is required. So I extend the Initial "S" in PAN Application... But tin-nsdl says document is void. My question is How can I get PAN? and what should I enter name in PAN application? I already paid Rs 105 so Is can I get refund? Thank you

I dont think your document can be considered as void. many individuals (south based) have similar name structure and their applications are processed.
kindly meet the local PAN facilitation center to resolve the issue.

Income tax department doesn't accepts initials or short names it requires full name and surname is compulsory.
So you apply for pan by mentioning your total name in surname option only means at surname option fill "Arunachala s".
And you didn't get refund of your money but you can adjust such amount to your next application, But if you eligible to get adjustment of fees already paid then TIN-NSDL Send a mail to you indication of adjustment process.
But in your case you gave to apply you pan in fresh application means a new applicant, so TIN NSDL doesn't allow you to adjust the money for one application number to another application number.
So in your case you didn't get refund or adjustment of fees paid;because of it is mistake of you not by TIN NSDL.
as I said there are some cases where PAN have been issued, However, in light of Dintakurthi's reply, I would suggest please follow his advice given that he is better placed to comment on cases specially with specific south based name structure.
