17 December 2008 The client is selling readymade(Textiles). Does he covers under the above act.The goods are packed. but thereis no selling price on the goods when client purchases goods. Just he puts sales price on the goods.

18 December 2008 The Government of India considers a garment as a Packaged Commodity and made it subject to the provisions of Standard Weights and Measurement Acts as well as the Packaged Commodity Rules there under. It is the view of the Government that by doing so, the interests of the consumer will be protected.

18 December 2008 Thanks a lot .But my question is when you sell the goods in Packaged commodities act. you are not supposed to sell the pack. But in garment industry no consumer will purchase the good unless you open the pack and show the goods.

19 December 2008 Even customer can ask to open any packaged commodity,
but it doesn't make any difference...
