First of all go the Maharashtra VAT website www.mahavat.gov.in On left side you will see option for e-registration.. As you click on it you will prompted to fill initial details like location, Name of business, name of applicant, status of applicant and PAN NO.
Then tick the act under which you want to take registration like MVAT or CST or both.. click next.. you will see another page where you will have to provide lots of details like details of business, address, bank account details etc.... On top of it you will see a request ID.. please make note of it as it will help you to refill the form in case you could not complete the registration procedure in single stroke... All the required details are self explanatory..
Documents required (assuming that the business is proprietorship concern)
1. Address proof of business 2. Identity proof of proprietor 3. Address proof of Residence of proprietor 4. No objection letter from owner of premises which is to be registered as place of business 5. PAN Card of proprietor 6. Registration certificate under Bombay shop & establishment act (Gumasta) 7. Printout of application and acknowledgement generated after submitting online registration form for VAT 8. 2 Photographs of proprietor 9. If already registered under PT then certificate otherwise application has to be made for PT registration also shall be accompanied along with other documents... Most important in addition to that demand draft drawn in favour of "State Bank of India – A/c. MVAT" of following amounts shall be made a. In case of voluntary registration :- One of Rs.5000 and one of Rs. 25000 b. In case of Compulsory registration :- Only One of Rs. 5000...
