27 August 2011 hello sir .i am dinesh acharya and i have a client who got notice from department u/s 143(1) as he filed return for a.y 2010-11 but could not pay tax as cheque was dishonoured due to some reason.amount of tax is big n he is not able to make payment at one stroke so he wants some time i.e 6-12 months to pay or like installment arrangment...is it possible .......whats process ? ........ thanks

27 August 2011 Just calculate the interest and deposit and than go to talk to the AO for making correction with an application showing the reason of failure to pay.
