20 July 2012 a cheque is issued by me to a shopkeeper for rs. 20,000 for goods supplied. the cheque was dishonoured. shop keeper lodged a complaint against my self under Negotiable instrument act, 1881, through this complent the shop keeper can ask for compensation also.........?????????? please reply........

20 July 2012 Cheque bounce section is normally section 138. No he cannot ask for compensation, the maximum he can ask is charges for default that includes bounce charges as per banks, legal charges if any.
