Medical reimbursement upto rs.15000 is exempt from tax. Under no section it is fully exempt .

Clarification-Reimbusement of medical expenses in a pvt.hospital is exempt upto 15000/- and "in govt.hospital, hospital of employer they are totally exempt".

20 August 2008 You have to say whether the expenditure involved is for hospitalisation.

20 August 2008 Means

20 August 2008 82000 of tax seems to be less for the expense of 21.50 lakhs. Confirm the amount

If your employer had directly paid to the hospital & if the hospital is approved by the chief commissioner, based on other conditions this may be exempted.

20 August 2008 Reimbusement of medical expenses in a pvt.hospital is exempt upto 15000/- and "in govt.hospital, hospital of employer they are totally exempt"

22 August 2008 Yes, i agree with Mr Wadhwani.

Reimbusement of medical expenses in a pvt.hospital is exempt upto 15000/-

But, in govt.hospital, hospital of employer they are totally exempted
