An academic term is a division of an academic year, the time during which a school, college or university holds classes. These divisions may be called terms. The schedule adopted by institutions of learning or education systems vary widely.
1. A semester system divides the academic year into 2 terms of relatively equally lengths. 2. A trimester system divides the academic year into 3 terms of relatively equally lengths. 3. A quarter system divides the academic year into 4 terms of relatively equally lengths.
Term End Examination in IGNOU means semester or annual exams.
