There are many criteria that lead to marking a mail as a junk by any email provider . And this criteria varies from email provider to email provider.
If you donot want a mails which you read regulary to go into Junk foler then .. add address of the sender to your address book , in this way your service provider aka Rediffmail will come to know that this mail is useful ..
Some Providers Checks the contents of mails , Sometime they also treat a mail as a spam bcoz they might have recived mails from user saying that a mail is a spam .. In yahoo/gmail this feature is called "Mark as spam"
And thier are many more criteria.. becoz of time constraints i wont be able to explain all of them here..
Your suggestion is to add address of the sender to my address book.I have this to say on that:
1) My rediffmail settings are such that whenever I send mail to anyone his/ her address is automatically added to address book. I frequently send / receive mails from my sister and my brother in law(BIL). Strangely my sister's mail go to Inbox and my BIL's mail go to Junk mail. How do you explain that?
2)I keep receiving mails from job consultants with whom I had no contact earlier. Some of these go to Inbox and others to Junk mail. This seems strange.
May be, like you said, the criteria differs from one mail provider to another. For rediffmail it is something else which we dont know....

Let me share my views here. As far as I know, the number of recepients decide the fate of classification of a mail into genuine and spam. I have felt that if mail is sent to many persons at a time (either by Bcc or Ccc), it goes to junk mail.
Better u mark the important mails "Not Spam" in the read mail option.
