22 July 2013 Hi Experts,

I have registered a firm in July 2012. However i was not able to carry out any business. I did not pay VAT or file any returns.

how can i proceed now? Is it necessary to file? as i dont plan to do business .

I have been issued a notice stating to file returns

22 July 2013 Yes. Even nil return also mandatory to file under VAT. if you not having any business and no plan to do business, then you can surrender the TIN number to LVO stating the same reason. but you need to file the return which you not filed previously before surrender

23 July 2013 Also, in the notice that has been issued which is dated a month back(24/06) , it has been stated that failing to file within 7 days the TIN would be cancelled. Unfortunately i recievd the letter couple of days back.

So how can i proceed now?
I tried to file through this website
https://vat.kar.nic.in/epay/

When i tried to pay using ICICI bank it needs a corporate account which i do not have :(

I do not have username also as i have not filed even once

23 July 2013 It is possible LVO canceled the TIN also since non filing of return and not responded the notice.

if you are trying to file online return, you need to visit this link

http://164.100.80.99/vat2/

For surrender the TIN, you cannot do online. you need to submit the request in writing to LVO

Thank you for your reply. Is there a way to find out if LVO is cancelled or not? Also if it is cancelled do i need to worry about filing returns ?

23 July 2013 There is the option to see online login. but you are not logged any time. it cannot check. better you can give request and close properly the surrender and the returns issue,otherwise penalty may be levied
