07 December 2015 Dear All Experts,
Please explain me few things about Departmental Proceedings of Income Tax because i have gone through a departmental proceedings in which by mistake i have quoted few wrong answer because i was unaware of the facts and on the basis of that i have conducted few mistakes and given statement in such a way that which will harm me in judicial proceeding.
1) Is there any exemption in law for a layman who are unaware of the law and its implications.
2) As the instruction given by the Assessing Officer i have followed the same, but when i have consulted my friend he suggested that i have made some mistakes.
3) Can i change the statement given earlier.
Thank You.

07 December 2015 no there are no exemptions. mere amendment to a prior submission is not sufficient. You need to back it up with evidence. It is for AO to judge on the basis of evidence to rely or not rely on your statements.
