Hi I have completed my CA.Now I am a little confused about my career as to which field should i go in.I have a very good interest in Taxation Laws(Both direct & Indirect).I have a good interest in interpretation of laws and case laws.So is LLb a good option.If get an LLb done in taxation what are the avenues open to me.Please Suggest
First, heartiest congratulations for your completing CA.
I am a LLB CS myself so i know how lucrative the prospect of LLB sounds, but LLB is a course which one should take up only if one intends to practice as an advocate and moreover there is nothing called LLB in taxation. LLB is a general course where u will be grilled with non corporate laws also like civil laws, family laws, criminal laws and others, which might be too tedious and not even interesting for u. Seeing your interest in interpretation of laws and taxation I would suggest you to do a course catering specifically to tax laws like MBL from National Law college or something of that sort and along with that you can always start practising as a tax consultant. As far as i know a CA can represent a client in front of tax authorities so why waste time in getting a LLb done first. I hope i was of help let me know if there are any further queries. Thanks Poonam for your help...but i have question that if i do MBL do I have a future only in practise or can i take up a job in corporate(like legal dept).

You cannot practice after MBL, to practice as an Advocate you need to do a full three year or 5 year integrated course, but yes your option in legal department opens up.
You can also look for other diploma courses which are offered by national law colleges catering to your need.
IIM Calcutta as far as i can recall offers a course on corporate law.
Do check out all your options before narrowing down on one.
