Yes it is beneficial as the cascading effect would be nullified. Right now if you pay excise duty, the trader cannot take the CENVAT credit on the excise duty as he is not liable to pay excise duty. With GST, he can take credit for excise duty as well even if he is not liable to excise duty.

There will be some sectors at an advantage and some adversely getting impacted in the initial phase but once the law settles down it will be a win win to both the business as well as the consumer.
