23 March 2014 What is the difference between the terms intermediate goods and captive consumption in excise?

24 March 2014 Intermediate goods or producer goods or semi-finished products are goods used as inputs in the production of other goods, such as partly finished goods.If goods are not sold but consumed within the factory then its known as captive consumption.

24 January 2016 An intermediate good is a good or service that is used in the eventual production of a final good, or finished product. These goods are sold by industries to one another for the purpose of resale or producing other goods.


24 January 2016 Captive consumption means goods are not sold but is consumed by the factory itself. In which case it is understood that excise credit cannot be availed. PO has to be made with non deductible excise so that the duty values are inventorised
