Income tax on Meal Vouchers/ Eating Joints

29 December 2008 Dear Sirs

Is meal vocuhers or eating joints coupans are taxable in the hand of employees if it is deducted from salary of the employee and reflect in their salary slip as meal voucher allowance and deduct the same from it?

30 December 2008 Expenditure on provsion of free meals in excess of Rs. 50 per meal should be treated as perquisite - Circular 15/2001 dated 20.12.2001.
