Hra exemption- duty of employer

19 February 2014 Recently the rules for claiming exemption u/s 10 (13A) for HRA have been revised. Accordingly employee is required to submit to his employer, the PAN No. of the landlord if the annual rent exceeds Rs. 1 Lakhs.

My question is what the employer is supposed to do with it? Is it required to be communicated to Income tax dept. in any manner? Is there any declaration for the same?

20 February 2014 Employer should make sure that PAN is a valid one. No need of any communication to IT dept. Should disclose only if any inquiry comes from the dept.
