HRA claim for Housing Loan

This query is : Resolved

30 March 2009 I am residing in a home other then the home on which I have taken loan , will i get HRA benefit??

30 March 2009 Hello dear, If you are paying rent for the place where you are residing, then exemption of HRA is available for you.

30 March 2009 You will get HRA benefits and home loan only if you are residing in a rented house in a city other than where you own a house. If you are paying rent for a house situated within the same city, you will not be entitled to HRA beneifits

30 March 2009 Yes you will definatly get these benefits:

- Tax benefit on principal repayment under Section 80C
- Tax benefit on interest payment under Section 24
- HRA benefit (if Your house is in one city but you reside in another city).

30 March 2009 If you have any other confusion regarding this point, please ask this point in little more detail. I will reply again.
