This query is : Resolved

17 February 2024 Sir, inspite of my many attempts, I could not upload GSTR 1 of January,2024. Every time, portal shows "ERROR OCCURED" only. What may be the solution of the same ? What type of error it can be ?

07 July 2024 Facing errors like "ERROR OCCURRED" while trying to upload GSTR-1 on the GST portal can be frustrating. Here are some steps and considerations to resolve this issue:

1. **Check Error Details:**
- The portal may sometimes provide more specific error messages when you expand or hover over the "ERROR OCCURRED" notification. Look for any additional details or error codes provided.

2. **Common Issues:**
- **Technical Glitches:** The GST portal occasionally experiences technical issues. Try uploading at different times of the day or on different days to see if the problem persists.
- **File Size:** Ensure that your GSTR-1 file size does not exceed the portal's limits. Large files can sometimes cause upload errors.
- **Internet Connectivity:** Stable internet connectivity is essential for successful uploads. Ensure you have a reliable connection when uploading.

3. **Browser Compatibility:**
- Use a supported and updated web browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. Sometimes, browser settings or outdated browsers can cause upload failures.

4. **File Format and Content:**
- Verify that your GSTR-1 file is in the correct format (JSON) and adheres to the GSTN schema. Any errors in file format or structure can lead to upload failures.
- Double-check the data entered in the GSTR-1 file for accuracy and completeness. Incorrect data or missing mandatory fields can trigger errors.

5. **Clear Cache and Cookies:**
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies before attempting to upload again. Sometimes, cached data can interfere with portal functions.

**Retry and Documentation:**
- If the error persists, keep a record of attempts and error messages encountered. Documenting these details will be useful if you need to escalate the issue to the GST helpdesk.

**Contact GST Helpdesk:**
- If none of the above solutions work, contact the GST helpdesk for technical support. Provide them with specific details such as error messages, steps taken, and file characteristics. They can provide guidance or escalate the issue for resolution.

By systematically troubleshooting these areas, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the GSTR-1 upload errors on the GST portal.
