12 April 2014 What are diffrence betwen TIN & TAN

12 April 2014 1) TIN means Tax Identification Number and TAN means Tax Allocation Number
2) TIN uses for Sales Tax purpose only and TAX uses for Income tax purpose
3) TIN is useful to claim VAT Input on Purchases and to pay VAT Tax and to file VAT returns and TAN is useful to pay TDS/TCS deducted amount to the IT department and to file TDS returns
4) TIN allots on the name of the business organisation and TAN allots to individuals/HUFs/Firms/Companies etc....
5) Professionals not required to hold TIN while TAN may be required to hold

In one word we can say TIN is for Business activities and TAN is for income tax assessess.
