Failure to Pay Profession Tax - Maharashtra

14 March 2008 If any employer fail to pay the profession Tax to Govt. which he deducted from his / her employer's salary & He was liable to pay the tax quarterly.
Then how much interest he have to pay on the amount of Profession Tax?

14 March 2008 1.25% per month after the due date if he fails to pay the sum part of the month then whole months interest should be pay

Please confirm the below mentioned slabs for the Profession Tax Liability:

1. 0 to 5000/- Payment annually
2. 5000/- to 20000/- is Quarterly
3. Above Rs. 20000/- monthly

17 March 2008 1.The slabs and tax rates are as follows,- 1] below Rs.2500:- Nil
2}Rs.2500/- and above but less than Rs.3500/- :- Rs.60 per month
3}Rs.3500/- and above but less than Rs.5000/- :-Rs.120 per month
4}Rs.5000/- and above but less than Rs.10000/- :- Rs 175 per month
5}Rs.10000/- and above :-2500 per annum (Rs.200 for all month except February and Rs.300/- for the month of February)

2- An employer is required to file return on the basis of his annual tax liability, as follows,- 1)below Rs.5000/-:- annual return 2) Rs.5000/- and above but less than Rs. 20000/-:-quarterly return. 3) Rs. 20000/- or more :-monthly return. 3-An employer is required to make oayments in Return cum Chalan in FORM-III
