WHAT IS EXTERNAL COMMERCIAL BORROWINGS???

28 May 2009 An External Commercial Borrowing can be defined as the commercial loan raised by Companies, NGO’s and also NBFC complying with the provisions of FEMA from non-resident lenders which specifically provides the approvals required to raise such loans and the institutions from which the loan can be raised and the purposes for which the loan can be utilized and it includes loans from banks, buyers, suppliers or other debt instruments.

29 May 2009 In simple term ECBs are "Borrowings taken from outside India" i.e. from non resident lenders.

Suppose if you take a loan from Swiss Bank, it will be ECB
