08 April 2009 what is the difference between excise duty and sales tax? please elaborate. how we pay excise duty and when we pay and to whom we pay.

08 April 2009 Excise duty is payable on removal of manufactured excisable goods whereas sales tax is payable when you sell these goods. You have to remit to the excise duty to Central Govt whereas sales tax is remitted to the respective State Govt
