06 January 2015 hi frds, my client has 3 types of customers.Company has 3 different pricing policies for charging amt. The industry follows uniform list price. Pricing is based on different discount rates. I want to give a Drop-down box containing Type of customer, On selection of customer, The relevant discount rate should automatically change the list price. pls help out the way

06 January 2015 you can use the function "IF" for this purpose
Example
=if(A1="Customer Name", .10,if(A1="Customer name 2", .20,.25))

You mention name of the customer in A1
.10,.20,.25 is the discount rates (illustrative)
I think it will help you.

06 January 2015 I think that you can achieve this task by using both drop down option and if function. Mr Mohit Singla had rightly said and i am only adding into that you can use drop down option in customer type column to select the customer from the drop down list. You can add drop down list by selecting Data Validation under Data tab in excel. Under data validation again choose data validation option and then the under setting tab choose the List from the drop down menu. In right handside tick the option In cell drop down and in the source write the category of customer and then click ok.
