Hello, If i Ship items from India to Dubai for an exhibition and reimport them back to india, For documentation Purpose, who do i Bill the Items to. Who are the consignees of the shipment. Can I declare myself as the Consignee, go before hand and collect the shipment myself,
What is the Standard Practice for Shipment of exhibition Items.
Generally for any exhibition exports / imports, the organiser of the exhibition will take care of the imports also. (i.e) They would be providing the name and IEC to whom the goods shall be exported. Import clearance @ destination also will be handled by them. Hence you may check with the exhibition organiser for those details.
You cannot export in your name unless you have a registered place of business at Dubai.
Re-import shall be done in your name.
Alternatively if the shipment volume / value is huge you may also explore the possibility of using "ATA Carnet" scheme. You may approach FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) on the possibility of using this scheme.

Hello VIJI, Thank you for Replying swiftly. I have been reaching to the organisers for these details , but haven't succeeded yet.
I am exploring the Idea of carrying the items on Person, since the Weight is 40 Kg net, and are discrete items which can be packed in suitcases. In this case, Can I apply for an ATA Carnet (the declared Value of the Items is Rs.1,00,000 /-) and hand Carry it myself
How much time does it take for processing Carnet Documents.

ATA Carnet shall be used for hand carry cargo. You need to present the orginal ATA carnet along with cargo at each Customs station of entry and exit. Also note ATA carnet will be issued only for Government approved exhibitions. You may approach FICCI (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) on the possibility of using this scheme and also the eligibility to hand carry the goods.
You may check with some agents at the destination country (i.e) Dubai for the rules followed there.
