Destruction of capital goods by stpi unit

03 April 2013 My company, a stpi unit, wants to destruct imported capital goods which are around 3 to 10 years old and are no longer required for our operations. can the goods be destroyed without payment of necessary excise/customs duties? if so, under what notification?

21 May 2013 With due intimation to the Central Excise Department you can destroy the same with the help of your auditor who shall issue a certificate after carrying out of stock verification
