30 January 2012 Dear All,

Can we stop providing depreciation on a machine which is totally breakdown from last 6 months and is send for repair and 'll take 3 to 4 month more to start.

30 January 2012 In my view no.. depreciation needs to be computed and claimed as its a mandatory charge and not optional..

30 January 2012 No you cannot.....
And its good for the company to claim depreciation. Why the company doesnt want the benefit.
Charge depreciation for the period. and after repairs capitalise the exp and charge depreciation on that also.
