It usually means reduction in value because of its usage.. mostly used for assets... when we use a assets, its value gets low because of rear and tear

Though both have the same meaning, the term depreciation is used in case of tangible assets like building, furniture, etc. Depletion is used in case of non renewable assets like mining.
