29 January 2015 one of my friend got notice u/s 245 for A.Y. 2010-11 For amount of 5400 he paid the tax but in challan he quote A.Y. 2009-10 As he misunderstood AY and FY so in 26AS 5400 Shown in AY 2009-10 but as he claimed that for A.Y. 2010-11 Demand raised but my question is can he request for refund of A.Y. 2009-10 as the liability was nil in that year plz tell me

You can write to your AO & intimate abou mistake and adjust Tax so paid again Demand.

29 January 2015 So why you want to claim refund, you have paid tax but mentioned wrong AY. So insted of claiming refund you can write to AO, for tht you will be required to visit personally.
