Credit of service tax

I am a manufacturer. I am registered with the excise dept.

I would like to know whether I can take the credit of Service Tax paid on the services received by me.

I am not registered under the Service Tax.

Please clarify.

30 May 2012 Yes, you can avail credit of service tax paid on the input services received in realtion to manufacturing activities.

For the purpose of availing credit you need not get registered under Service tax as provisions of cenvat credit is covered under Excise Rules.
