compensation received from builder against redevelopment of building and also rent received from builder whether it is taxable or not in the hands of recipient

If there is a capital GAin and that Capital gain exceeds the value of the property acquired on completion of redevelopment then the amount is taxable.Refer to Sec 54 of the IT Act. More opinion is solicited.
