please suggest me , > >a coaching and tranning institute which are charging sales tax or vat on study materialwhich are sold by institute, whether it is also liable for service tax on study material...........? further if he is not charging VAT then wether it is liable for service tax.? > >with regards > >R K Khandelwal

The cost of the study material/ reference books is to be included in the value of taxable value if the cost is recovered from the students.
