Chartered Accountant - Financial Management

This query is : Resolved

28 May 2008 One of my relative was arguing with me that CFAs are more prefered than CAs in the field of Financial Management. is it so ?

Are financial Analysts are more prefered now a days ?

Is there any use in doing CFA after CA ?

28 May 2008 yes, it is true, cfa have better understanding of finance than ca only due to their course structure which is based wholly on finance, while our institute expect us to be master of every field (which one can't). but on the other hand be informed that US cfa is many times preferred than Indian cfa (icfai hyd).

cfa will add value many times to a ca.

29 May 2008 If suppose after becoming CA i dont want to practise and i want to go for employment. Then insted of doing CA i would have done CFA for better opportunities as CFA is prefered than CA.

So please advise me what to do...

30 May 2008 no, i never said that generally CFA is prefered over CA. u asked about financial management field. in financial analysis field like capital market related jobes like portfolio management, fund manager, equity research analyst etc. but this is a very small portion of job market.

for other fields like taxation, consultancy, law, accounts, finance etc., either in any company or independently, a ca is always better than anyone.
