cenvat register whether maintained by manual record or system entry ?

30 September 2010 There is no legal compulsion to maintain manual register.

Normally, in practice assessee maintains the cenvat register since the same proved convenient to explain to excise authorities.

It is advisable to maintain the cenvat register in the format generally in use.

You are required to file a declaration for intention of maintaining computerised record.
