02 March 2017 As per Indian Stamp Act provisions, revenue stamp is to be affixed on any receipt , amount if exceeds Rs.5,000. whereby any money, or any bill of exchange, cheque or promissory note is acknowledged to have been received.

Therefore, if you are making payment of more than Rs.5000/- the recipient should acknowledge the payment by affixing revenue stamp.
