08 April 2016 I am member (not in Practice) and i want to be associated with a CA firm for providing consultation on taxation matters. can i do so?

08 April 2016 You have to apply COP from ICAI, in order to associate or Practise independently.

08 April 2016 Yes. You can very well do so.
It will be better if you could elaborate your situation a bit more without hampering your SECRACY.
e.g. if you are in service and want to remain in service, even after getting associated with the said CA firm : you can do so if your existing employer does not have any objection
if you are doing nothing right now and you want to get associated with a CA firm, you can do so. No issues.

08 April 2016 i am right now carrying on my business.I want to get associated with ca firm for taxation consultation and will be continuing my business also alongside.

09 April 2016 Why are you using the word BUSINESS? Any specific reason?
I assume you mean to say you are carrying on PROFESSION. Right?
In that case, you can very well do so.
