This query is : Resolved

09 October 2023 IF A CA FINAL STUDENT YET TO CLEAR FIRST GROUP. IF HE SECURED 60%.IN NOV 2023 EXAM . WHETHER THE EXEMPTION CARRIED FORWARD TO SUBSEQUENT THREE ATTEMPTS . NEXT SUCCEEDING WITHIN 3 ATTEMPTS HE GOT 40% & ABOVE IN REMAINING 2 PAPERS OF THE GROUP AND GOT 150 MARKS . THEN HE WILL BE DECLARED AS PASSED IN THE GROUP . SUPPOSE HE CLEARED OPTION PAPER ALSO WITHIN PRESCRIBED TIME LIMIT

06 July 2024 If a CA Final student has secured 60% or more marks in one or more papers of a group but has not cleared the entire group, the marks of the paper(s) in which they secured 60% or more can be carried forward for the subsequent attempts within the prescribed time limit. Here’s how it typically works:

1. Exemption for Papers: If a student scores 60% or more in any paper of a group but fails to clear the entire group, they can claim exemption for that paper in subsequent attempts.
2. Validity of Exemption: The exemption for a paper is valid for the next three successive attempts immediately following the attempt in which the exemption is granted.
3. Passing Criteria: To pass a group, a student needs to score a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in total in all papers of the group together, with a minimum of 40% marks in each paper individually.
4. Scenario Example:
• If a student scores 60% in one paper in November 2023 but does not clear the group.
• In subsequent attempts within the next three attempts, if the student scores 40% or more in each of the remaining papers of the group and aggregates 150 marks or more in total for the group, they will be declared as passed in the group.
5. Option Paper: If the student clears the option paper within the prescribed time limit, it contributes to the overall passing criteria for the group.
