Step marking is in every paper. Even in theory papers, they try to find the key points in the answer. For every key point mentioned in the answer, you get the banefits. Thats why it is always suggested that theoretical answers should be written in pointwise format, so that maximum key points can be covered to pull attraction of the checker. And in practical papers also, the presentation, format, cuttings and overwritings, points covered, provisions mentioned, everything matters.

For costing papers, try to solve the questions in a table format. Make a computation Sheet with all calculations in working notes. If any theoretical concept is to be mentioned, then it should also be part of your working notes. Only main calculation should be there in the computation sheet. Try to keep the main computation neat and clean. I can't show you the presentation format in this column. So just try to incorporate these points in your answer.
