22 March 2012 Is demanding audit engagement letter from the company mandatory for the auditor? if Yes, under which law and section?
And is it the obligation of the company to sign the letter. And who will have to sign the letter as the Auditors are appointed by the shareholders.

23 March 2012 The first auditor of the company is appointed by the Board of directors. The intimation alongwith the board resolution is to be sent to the auditor by the Board and the chairman of that meeting shall sign the letter sent to the auditor.

In the AGM it is nothing the auditor is re-appointed and no letter is required to be sent to him as because he is not removed and he is eligible for re-appointed. Auditor is sent with a letter to attend the AGM along with agenda which is enough for communication to the auditor. If he is not re-appointed then he will get letter from the company.
