Hello sir/mam.. I have given Ipcc exams nov.2012 attempt both groups and have full hopes of passing in both the groups.. I am planning to do training in may 2013.. But I am confused whether to join any big4 or any mid size firm... After completing my CA i will be doing the job for max. 4 years after that I will do my own practice.. So from the career point of view where should I do my training.. People say working in big4 does give good exposure of work but not of all the areas and departments.... We might excel in 1 or 2 departments but we wont even get to know how to handle other departments... On the other hand in a mid size firm rotation of work is given to the trainees and they get experience of all the departments... So plz suggest me what should I do... Thank you..

In my opinion Sonika a mid sized firm is always the best option because it will help you develop your overall skills and abilities which BIG 4's never provide. As pointed out by you, you will specialize in just 1 area. For practice overall knowledge and application is of utmost importance. Even if you specialize later on in life, to start of you will have to be jack of all trades. In my opinion go for a mid sized firm so that your studies also aren't hampered and you will get a fair bit of responsibility and exposure.

Thankx alot for your suggestion sir... I have one more query... I live in Chandigarh... As per my knowledge Kansal Singla & Associates in sec 17 Chandigarh provides the best training here.... Do you think I should apply there for training? Can you please suggest me some other options of firms for training in Chandigarh...

I am sorry Sonika because I have got no clue about Chandigarh. I stay in Kolkata. If you think its the best firm and would suit you well then you should surely apply there and then see what happens.
