Hello, I have done my BE in 2001 from a top Engg College then joined a TOP IT MNC.Worked till mid-2009(have both onsite-offshore and lead exposure). After mid-2009 due to unavoidable personal( family reason) I cant move from home to out-side.So I am job less from point of view of corporate world of Tier one company.in the mean time I am attached with an NGO (not of my line) but worked for their office.Did preparation of management entrance examination ( succeed in MAT 2 times with 99% and this year CAT with 89%.Also did one SAP Sales course ( not certified course).Right now going to do Executive MBA from a prim. institute ( not IIM A BC or XLRI ). Willing to do an Industry change from IT to Finance. So I want to know your feedback/suggestions/reply how do I get my next job though my alternative choice is to back to IT as a manager (presales or bussiness development). Please reply.Thanks. Sudipta

Firstly, seek the placement assistance of your mba institute. Secondly, you'll be back to square one in terms of practical knowledge if you choose finance as the new domain post mba. My suggestion look to grow vertically in the area where you already have experience.

Thanks Kishore for replying me early. But my queries is not yet answered.I asked how successful I shall be and how industry will accept me.Money is never a concern for me for initial stage. If I learn the work and satisfy my employer as well as my clients then money will come to me, I dont hv to go for that.Same thing happened with me in IT though the IT technical work I dont like or not expert in that even, Hence the decision of management and I did the fire fight but what next..would I be succeeded. I know CA CS CFAs are there in that field being an engg it is really challenging to compete with them to go for Fin consulting and investment banking. But that is a dream for me.So would I be successful. For your kind info I am too much dedicated and hard working to the work whatever I do. Hence u can imagine for a 33 yr guy how tough it is to compete in CAT and come to a premier institute.I am ready to learn all fin things from basics.Learning is always welcome to me.So please tell how successful I shall be and how industry will accept me. If I am in US or EU this query will not be in mind but it is India so I am asking the experts .Please reply. Thanks Indranil

It'd be difficult to say "how successful a person could be"
coming to your Q on industry accepting you - there is no reason why you will not get going. Have seen engineers with PG in finance doing very well in the domains you've mentioned.
CAs & other fin pro.s mostly handle functional areas. Your interests are IB & consulting - your edu credentials too suit your ambition.
