08 May 2012 GAAR is introduced in budget 2012 which gives power to AO to check any transaction done with the sole purpose of avoiding taxes. It is intended to cover mostly overseas transactions wch takes advantage of tax treaties. The applicabilty of GAAR is delayed by a year yesterday and its impact was seen on the market wch recovered after a dip.
