2 form 16, but filed return only for 2nd one

This query is : Resolved

25 August 2012 Dear Sir/Madam,

I came across a query, where a tax payer worked in two different company during FY 2011-2012, he also received two form 16 (1st one from 1-Apr-2011 till 31-July-2011 and second one from 1-Aug-2011 till 31-Mar-2012).

While filing return for the AY 2012-13, his tax planner filed only for the second form 16 and missed to file the first one.

Since due date for AY 2012-13 is 31st-Aug-2012, can he go for a revised filing ?

Filing done by the tax planner was in offline mode. Can he create an online ID and go ahead filing the same online or he has to file offline again compulsorily ?

FYI: First form 16 income is Rs. 95,000 and Second form 16 income is 6,50,000.

Please provide your advice on this.

Thanks in advance.

26 August 2012 He can revise his return online also

26 August 2012 Suresh, thank you very much for this short and pertinent advise.

26 August 2012 Yes, Agree totally with CA Suresh Jain sir.

Note that you can revise a return online only if the original return was filed online.

Since you have mentioned that the original return was filed offline, you can revise the return offline only.
