If you are unable to cancel an e-invoice directly on the GST portal due to the limit of 500 invoices, you can follow these steps to cancel the e-invoice using the offline utility provided by GSTN (Goods and Services Tax Network):
Using Offline Utility to Cancel E-invoice:
1. Download Offline Utility: • Visit the GST portal and download the Offline Utility tool for e-invoicing. This tool allows you to prepare and upload e-invoices offline. 2. Prepare JSON File for Cancellation: • Use the offline utility to prepare a JSON file for cancellation of the e-invoice. You will need to provide details such as the invoice number, invoice date, and the reason for cancellation. 3. Generate IRN for Cancellation: • Just like for generating an e-invoice, use the offline utility to generate a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN) for the cancellation JSON file. 4. Upload Cancellation JSON File: • Once the JSON file for cancellation is prepared and IRN is generated, upload this JSON file on the GST portal using the offline utility. 5. Submit and Verify: • After uploading, submit the cancellation request through the offline utility. Verify that the cancellation request is processed successfully.
