For all CWA students Practical Training For ICWAI students Every registered student after the commencement of Revised syllabus 2008 shall be required to undergo practical training for a period of 3 years on whole time basis to the satisfaction of the Council in any one or more of the following organizations given under clause 2 and in the areas given in clause 3 for the purpose of recognition for training. A student working in any of the organizations specified in clause 2 in the functional areas given in clause 3 below shall be exempted from training. A student working in areas other than specified in clause 3 shall be required to undergo training for minimum six months in the specified areas. 2. Organizations recognized for Training A Cost Trainee shall undergo practical training under (1) Practicing Cost Accountant or (2) a firm of Cost Accountants or (3) in any of the following organizations under a professionally qualified person. The authority under which the training is undertaken is referred to as Principal hereinafter. i. Central/State Government / Semi-Government / Public Utilities. ii. Banks and other Financial Institution iii. Insurance Company iv. Public Sector Unit v. Public Limited Company vi. Private Limited Company vii. Information Technology Sector viii. KPO / BPO ix. Stock Exchange x. Universities, Management Institutes and any other educational institute xi. LLP xii. Management Consultancy Firms xiii. NGO xiv. Co-operative societies engaged in Banking, Manufacturing having transaction value or turnover, as the case may be, more than 10 Crores per year xv. Any other institution as approved by the Council Recognized areas for Training : i. Management Accounting ii. Cost Accounting iii. Financial Accounting iv. Financial Management v. Auditing vi. Regulatory compliances vii. Direct Taxation viii. Indirect taxation ix. Corporate Laws , Industrial Laws, Commercial Laws x. Systems Analysis, Information Technology (including ERP system) xi. Project Management xii. Banking Operation xiii. Insurance xiv. Valuation xv. Teaching in Finance, Accounts, Costing, Taxation, Management and subjects covered in ICWAI Syllabus ( other than visiting faculty). xvi. Management Consultancy Services as defined in appendix 6 under Regulation 111 of CWA Regulation, 1959 xvii. Any other areas approved by the Council 4. Procedure for Registration of Training A student required to undergo training may arrange training on his own or may seek assistance from the Institute for the arrangement of Training. The Institute will maintain information on Cost Accounting Firms, different organizations interested to train the students and the functional areas. . Period of Practical Training : Period of Training shall be 3 years. After completion of the prescribed training, a student shall submit the Training Completion Certificate duly signed by the Principal/ Employer to the Institute.

I contacted all offices they have not responded propery. Howmany years they will allow for old students and whether training is applicable for old student. Can you help me out? Hai Naveen, As for as your query reg applicability of new syllabus 2008, old students who are registered after 2002 can continue with old syllabus- 2002 itself, they will be given 2 to 3 chances, that is june 2008 to dec 2008 or june 2009. I got this clarified for me { I am doing final stage IV} from my bangalore chapter, but one thing your CC validity should be current for the term of exam for which you intend to apperar. Reg training ,I dont think it is applicable for old students. New syllabus is applicable only to students who are going to register afresh, for old students after the 2/3 chances which the Institute is yet to annoiunce. Regards Srividyaa'
