22 July 2011 I am govt employee and have e-filed my return wherein the contribution made for CGHS(which is eligible for deduction u/s 80D)has been wrongly deducted from gross total income instead of showing as a deduction u/s 80D from Gross income in ITR-1
Although it has not affected any change in my tax liablity as the amount(Rs.3,900/-) is within limits of 80D.

i have following doubts...
Q.1)am I required to revise my return?

Q.2)can I be served notice for this mistake, from income tax, if I don't revise my return?

Q.3)Can I revise my return mannualy instead of revising it electronically, as original return was filed electronically?

thanks in advance..

27 July 2011 Dear Author,

Ultimately the net taxable income and tax on the same is calculated correctly. Hence,

1. You are not advised to revise the return.

2. Notice for such a mistake will not be served by IT Dept.

3. Return filed electronically can be revised electronically only.
