TDS_13.05.09

This query is : Resolved

13 May 2009 We have paid the TDS and accordingly file our quarterly return as well. But at the time of filing the quarterly return we have entered the amount credited (Party wise) by reverse calculation taking the amount of tds paid as base.

Now can we issue the TDS certificate by making alteration in the amount credited figure because the tds paid and deducted is tallied.

Or can we make the adjustment in the last quarter (By checking from the parties ledger account).

Please suggest which option is correct.

Thanks in advance.

13 May 2009 Rajesh,

You must have a date of credit in TDS return, say 31-03-09 as per this date the last date of payment of TDS will be 31st May & paid paid TDS on time.

Now see, if you given TDS certificate the trasactions of diffirent then that means you have given wrong information in TDS return with the intension of interest evasion. Which can be treated as willful attemp for revenue loss, & may attract the penalty in income tax.

Rajesh, you can do that provided the party does not submit the copy to income tax department & then department does not make reconciliation of transactions.

The above explanation is to say that don't repeat the same in future.
What you have to do, just enter the more transaction details in the return.
But believe this will make life more simple

14 May 2009 thing that is sufficient.
